Real-Time Digital Andon System
SeQent's andon software drives andon boards, LED marquees, and plant-floor screens with live alarms, production status, KPIs, and OEE, so every team sees an issue the moment it happens and responds faster.
What Is a Digital Andon System?
A digital andon system is software that turns plant-floor signals into visual and audible alerts. SeQent collects alarms and production data from your SCADA, PLC, and MES systems and pushes them to andon boards and displays in real time, on the hardware you already have.

How Does SeQent's Andon System Work?
Collect data from automation systems, prioritize and queue messages, and push real-time content to any display surface across your plant floor.

Andon boards driven by SeQent display live alarm states, production events, and status updates pulled directly from your SCADA, PLC, historians and MES systems. Workers see what’s happening on the line without leaving their station. For background on the method itself, see our guide to what andon is and how it works.
- Live alarm states from SCADA, PLC, and MES sources
- Production line status with color-coded indicators
- Station-level and area-level views
- Automatic updates as conditions change in real time
From Andon Lights to a Digital Andon Board
A traditional andon light system uses stack lights, cords, or buttons at each station to show that something is wrong. It works at the line, but the signal stays local: someone still has to notice it, find the right person, and keep track of how long the line has been waiting.
A digital andon system keeps that same simplicity and adds what lights can’t: the station, the reason, and production numbers on andon boards the whole area can see. SeQent’s andon software can also send the same event to radios and mobile devices through Multi-Channel Notification and escalate it automatically through Escalation & Routing.

Where Do Andon Displays Make the Difference?
Assembly Line Visibility
Real-time status of every station on the line. Workers and supervisors see alerts, material calls, and production counts without leaving position.
Maintenance Dispatch
Display maintenance requests and equipment alerts on plant-floor screens so technicians know exactly where they're needed.
Production KPI Tracking
Live OEE, throughput, quality, and cycle time metrics visible to operators and managers throughout the facility.
Emergency Notification
Override all standard content with emergency messages, evacuation notices, and safety alerts across every display in the plant.
Material Call Systems
Operators trigger material requests displayed on logistics and warehouse screens, keeping supply lines moving without radio chatter.
Multi-Plant Standardization
Deploy consistent Andon display templates across all plants for a standardized visual management system enterprise-wide.
Andon Across a Global Automotive Plant Network
A global automotive manufacturer has run its plant-floor andon and alarm communication on SeQent since 2004, replacing legacy andon hardware with SeQent's Marquee Manager and VideoSERVER.

Common Questions About Andon Systems
An andon system is a visual management tool that signals a problem on the production line the moment it happens, so the right people can respond before it becomes downtime. Traditional andon used cords, buttons, and stack lights at each station. A digital andon system like SeQent’s adds andon boards and screens across the plant, live production data, and automatic alerts to the people who need to act.
An andon light system shows status at a single station, usually with stack lights or a signal tower. An andon board is a larger display, often an LED marquee or LCD screen, that shows status for a whole line or area: which station needs help, why, and how production is tracking against target. SeQent drives andon boards and audible alerts from the same alarm and production data.
Andon software collects signals from operators and automation systems, decides what each display should show and in what order, and pushes it to screens in real time. SeQent’s andon software uses priority queueing, so emergency messages override everything, production alerts come next, and KPIs like OEE rotate during normal operation.
In most cases, yes. SeQent supports multi-vendor LED and LCD displays across modern and legacy hardware, so plants can keep the screens they already have. Display content is available as a hardware appliance or a software license, and it connects to SCADA, PLC, and MES systems through OPC, ODBC, and native integrations with AVEVA, Velotic, and Rockwell Automation.
Downtime grows in the gap between a problem and a response. A digital andon system shortens that gap by making the issue visible to the whole area at once and alerting the people who can fix it, on displays, radios, or mobile devices.
